Two members of CMCI, Dr Natalie Wreyford and Dr Tamsyn Dent have been working on a research project for the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Creative Diversity into ‘what works’ to improve diversity and inclusion in the creative and cultural sector. The Creative Diversity APPG, co-chaired by Cross bench Peer Baroness Deborah Bull and Chi Onwurah MP was set up to identify and tackle obstacles to diversity and inclusion in the creative sector and provide recommendations for industry and government. The research project led by Dr Wreyford has been supported by Dr Dave O’Brien from the University of Edinburgh, The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, NBC Universal and the Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC) at Nesta. The report, ‘Creative Majority’ draws on a public consultation, a series of online roundtable discussions with representatives from across the industry and a systematic review of the wider literature into work-based diversity and inclusion interventions.
The report and recommendations will be launched both online and at the House of Commons in September 2021.
