On Friday 22 June 2012, Dr Ruth Adams presented a paper entitled ‘Tales of Nation and Tradition: The Rescue of Country Houses and the Invention of ‘English Heritage” at Understanding Britain, the First Annual British Studies Conference, held at the Institute of Education, London.
Understanding Britain was one strand of an event called The London Symposium, which also included a conference on Film and Media, and another entitled ‘Londonicity 2012’. The event ran from 22 to 24 June and attracted speakers and delegates from all over the world. Keynote speakers included the eminent film critic, Ian Christie.
