“Top-Notch”

There’s a glowing review of the CMCI-related volume The Public Value of the Humanities in The Times Higher Education Supplement. This is a book of essays from “leading humanities scholars” including CMCI’s Dr Richard Howells, and edited by Jonathon Bate.

According to reviewer Malcolm Gillies, vice-chancellor of London Metropolitan University and a former president of the Australian Academy of the Humanities: “This book provides a top-notch tutorial on the current states of humanities research in the UK.” The essays in this book, he says, are: “beautifully written. They well demonstrate the continuing importance of the fusion of idea and expression in the humanities, and hence the continuing importance of sole authorship and strong authorial control.”

The Public Value of the Humanities is published by Bloomsbury Academic (2011).
