Homage to Catalonia

Fresh off the plane from Vancouver, CMCI’s Rosalind Gill turned up in Barcelona to give the inaugural address to the Catalunyan Insitute for Women on the topic of ‘The representation of women in the media.” Examining the sexualisation of women in the media and the rise and increasing acceptability of sexism, Professor Gill addressed several hundred politicians, activists, and media workers. Just days earlier there had been an announcement that the equalities ministry would be being severely cut, so her message that “it’s time to get angry again” struck a chord with many listeners.
